About Me

Hi, I'm David Gourley
Former Teacher, Financial Planner, Family Man
Everything in my life has led me to be able to serve you as a financial planner.
I was raised by two incredible educators who showed me that hard work and dedication can lead to incredible things. We had to learn to live a more frugal lifestyle as our family of 5 was being supported on two teacher salaries. The biggest thing that my parents lacked during their working years was a financial professional that they trusted.
At 27 years old, I joined the teaching profession as a high school math teacher. I met my wife as she was teaching in the classroom next door to mine! We got married in 2017. When my wife and I got serious about our finances, we didn’t know where to turn to or who to trust. I went to work trying to soak up every piece of financial knowledge like a sponge.
After 8 years as a teacher, I left the profession in 2020 to pursue my newfound mission of helping other teachers navigate their financial journey.
I have lived the two-teacher lifestyle. I have had student loans. I have bought and sold a house. I have navigated the state pension system. I have three beautiful children. I have dealt with insurance. I have learned how to create a budget. I have funded a Roth IRA. I have a 403(b) and a 457(b). I have been there…
And now I want to help you!
My Philosophy
Financial planning is extremely personal. At least that is what I believe. There are advisors/planners out there who have loads of clients. Not me! I will have a maximum of 50 families that I serve, and I will help to navigate through every aspect of your financial life. I want to be the person you call when celebrating a big win or going through a tough time.
I believe investments are extremely important to have, but one of the least important items to discuss in a financial planning meeting. We won’t jump on the hottest new stock trend, but rather let time be our big differentiator.
I want to help you find the opportunities you didn’t know existed, tackle the areas you don’t understand as well, and help you learn instead of just “being told”.
I believe that educators not only can, but should, build wealth. You have a pension, but shouldn’t rely only on it. You likely have a unique opportunity to retire at a relatively young age, but yet the struggle is still real during your working years.
Financial planning is an investment and not one that I take lightly. It is ALWAYS my goal to provide you with significantly more value than what you pay. I look forward to the opportunity to prove this to you.
